Dealing with mold in your Bedford, New Hampshire home can be stressful. When the problem is first discovered there are always more questions than answers. Have confidence that there are caring and competent professionals who can help with removing mold from your property. The team at Soil-Away is ready to serve 24/7 and specializes in mold remediation services. Below is a quick case study of a family dealing with a mold removal project while selling their Bedford house. We worked with the client in a tight time table using a couple specialized mold remediation techniques.

Trying to Sell a House with Mold

Panic ensued at the receipt of the home inspection. The buyers’ home inspector had found widespread mold in the attic. The sellers had not anticipated this. They never went in the attic and were completely caught off guard. The questions started flowing at a frantic pace. Are the sellers going to back out of the deal? Would they be able to find a reputable company to take care of the mold before the closing? How much was the service going to cost?

The savvy and well-prepared real estate agent working for the sellers was already a step ahead. Having successfully worked with Soil-Away several times in the past she knew that removing mold quickly was not going to be an issue. The agent connected Soil-Away with the sellers to take care of the mold issue in the attic.

Dry Ice Blasting and HEPA Vacuuming

The attic mold was fairly extensive. It was determined that ice dams the previous winter had caused water damage. The water damage on the attic sheathing went undetected leading to mold growth. Removing mold in this situation called for a combination of dry ice blasting and HEPA cleaning.

Dry ice blasting is similar to sand blasting. Dry ice is the media which is accelerated at super-sonic speeds through a pressurized air stream. The dry ice pellets hit the surface to be cleaned and remove the mold from the surface. This process is very effective on hard, rough surfaces such as lumber and wood sheathing.

HEPA cleaning is a detailed process utilizing vacuums and air scrubbers. Every nook-and-cranny of the affected attic space was vacuumed with specialized equipment. HEPA air scrubbers are used filter the air and capture the remaining dust, debris and mold spores. HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air and captures 99.97 of all particulates larger than 0.3 microns in size. To put this in perspective, the average mold spores range from 10 to 30 microns in size.

All I have to say is WOW and FANTASTIC. I just got done building out my new professional office with Soil-Away’s construction division and they went ABOVE and BEYOND. Scott and Mike, the carpenters are skilled artisans. The project got done on time and the project came in on budget! The finished results have been blowing people away. Much better than I could have anticipated. Anyone is welcome to come to our office, Bright Light Chiropractic in Hooksett to check out the fine work they did. Simply can’t sing enough praises for them. Sorry that the picture doesn’t do the job justice. Thank you Jack and your team. -Dr. Jay

Since day one, I’ve known the owner, Jack, to be a hard-working and selfless leader. Through the efforts of him and his team, he was able to restore my flooded restaurant to tip-top shape. I was amazed with Jack’s orderliness throughout the entire process. Jack has proven to me that he is trustworthy, as both a friend and an individual in the work environment.

Highly recommend Soil-Away. A pipe in our upstairs bathroom gave and sent water down through a wall for at least a day before we noticed water dripping through our kitchen ceiling. Our insurance put us in touch with Soil-Away and they were at our house the next morning to assess the damage and dry things out. Joe, Ray and Tom were phenomenal to work with. They explained every part of the process to us and were very professional and friendly. If you have to deal with similar issues call Soil-Away, you won’t regret it.
