The Homeowner’s Guide To Springtime Mold

Written by Casey Shearns on . Posted in .

If you were to ask homeowners what problem they feared the most, many of them would likely point to mold growth. After all, mold can be extremely dangerous! Many people are allergic to it, which can cause respiratory problems regardless of tolerance. This is why trying to prevent mold growth throughout the year is important. As spring gets into full swing, the opportunities for mold growth become much more abundant. We give you a guide to springtime mold and how to prevent its spread below!

How Common Is Spring Mold Growth?

There are two seasons where mold growth is particularly bad. The first is summer. The second is spring. Springtime is arguably the most popular season for mold growth. While summer promotes more humid conditions, spring promotes moist conditions. Between the snow melting and the influx of rain, mold finds a perfect environment to make its home!

Preventing Spring Mold Growth

Now that you know how popular the spring months can be for mold growth, it’s time to learn how you can prevent it from happening. There are things you can do before and during the season to help eliminate the possibility. Check out some of our most recommended ways to prevent springtime mold growth!

  • Clean Out AC Drip Pans: Not only is this an important step to preventing appliance failure, but it also deters mold from growing! Take some time to remove the water from your AC unit’s drip pan every once in a while to help prevent mold growth.
  • Wipe Off Window Condensation: The moister your climate is, the more likely it is that mold will find a home! Condensation can form on older windows in times of big temperature fluctuations, so this should be dealt with accordingly.
  • Examine Your Rooms After A Storm: Spring has the potential to bring about lots of rainfall, which means you should be on high alert for how it affects your home! After a storm, take some time to examine your more vulnerable areas, such as windows, doors, your basement, and your attic. The quicker you can detect leaks, the more likely it is that you’ll stop mold growth!

All I have to say is WOW and FANTASTIC. I just got done building out my new professional office with Soil-Away’s construction division and they went ABOVE and BEYOND. Scott and Mike, the carpenters are skilled artisans. The project got done on time and the project came in on budget! The finished results have been blowing people away. Much better than I could have anticipated. Anyone is welcome to come to our office, Bright Light Chiropractic in Hooksett to check out the fine work they did. Simply can’t sing enough praises for them. Sorry that the picture doesn’t do the job justice. Thank you Jack and your team. -Dr. Jay

Since day one, I’ve known the owner, Jack, to be a hard-working and selfless leader. Through the efforts of him and his team, he was able to restore my flooded restaurant to tip-top shape. I was amazed with Jack’s orderliness throughout the entire process. Jack has proven to me that he is trustworthy, as both a friend and an individual in the work environment.

Highly recommend Soil-Away. A pipe in our upstairs bathroom gave and sent water down through a wall for at least a day before we noticed water dripping through our kitchen ceiling. Our insurance put us in touch with Soil-Away and they were at our house the next morning to assess the damage and dry things out. Joe, Ray and Tom were phenomenal to work with. They explained every part of the process to us and were very professional and friendly. If you have to deal with similar issues call Soil-Away, you won’t regret it.
